27 Unforgettable Katharine Hepburn Quotes Katharine Hepburn, actress, was best known for roles in which she played strong, sophisticated women. Selected Katharine Hepburn Quotations I never realized until lately that women were supposed to be the inferior sex.Life is to be lived. If you have to support yourself, you had bloody well better find some way that is going to be interesting. And you dont do that by sitting around wondering about yourself. If you give an audience a chance they will do half your acting for you.Acting is the most minor of gifts and not a very high-class way to earn a living.. After all, Shirley Temple could do it at the age of four. When I started out, I didnt have any desire to be an actress or to learn how to act. I just wanted to be famous.Everyone thought I was bold and fearless and even arrogant, but inside I was always quaking. If you always do what interests you, at least one person is pleased. If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.Without discipline, theres no life at all.Enemies are so stimulating.Loved people are loving people.Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only what you are expecting to give - which is everything. What you will receive in return varies. But it really has no connection with what you give. You give because you love and cannot help giving. But whatever happens to you, you have to keep a slightly comic attitude. In the final analysis, you have got to not forget to laugh. If you survive long enough, youre revered - rather like an old building. There are no laurels in life ... just new challenges.Lifes whats important. Walking, houses, family. Birth and pain and joy. Actings just waiting for a custard pie. Luxury as a Requirement - Essay Example The joy and luxury only come about after a long battle for dynasty with the help of God to establish the dynasty. Only time can fade away the memory of the establishment of the dynasty, leading the new generation to forget about the struggle and spirit of togetherness leading to the destruction of the kingdom. Further still, once power is vested in a given royal family, it is passed over to the next generation granting them the luxury of leadership. At a given point after the establishment of the dynasty, the memory of the establishment will fade away. The fading of memory will give way for the people having a new look at their leader and his family. Resultantly, all members of the royal family are considered as leaders. The leadership is shared in the family with less support of the group feeling required, but rather obedience of the people to the government. The help of outsiders in establishing the government may be necessary to retain power. Luxury in the royal family can still be maintained by having influence over other nations in the neighborhood. In some cases, the group feeling of the leader is so strong that it attracts other nations to believe and trust in the leadership of the given leader. As such, when the leader desires to leave the kingdom, other nations embrace them and a re willing to submit to their power thus the leader retains their leadership position in a foreign land. Furthermore, religion has a major role to play in the success of leadership based on group feeling. The royal leaders derive their power from being superior as the people lift them up in the spirit of togetherness. However, it is not easy to divert the peopleââ¬â¢s mind from the pleasures and treasures of the world to oneness in the interest of the whole group. It is only God who is able to bring the people together in sound mind to disregard worldly pleasure and pursue the interest of the community,

History - The Mongol Empire - Essay Example Some of the key features brought to the human thinking by this impressive empire include the intercontinental long distance trade, united people that formed different distinguished nations, change the way leadership, specifically military leadership, was thought to be, and fanatically developed new norms for the historians. The historians remember the Mongol Empire as the largest contiguous kingdom mankind has ever witnessed. The best spectator of this empire was the area of Eurasia, distinctly at the 13th and the 14th century. But the overall ruler ship of Mongols throughout the world is like the golden pages of history books. 2 Brief History The Mongolian empire was a federation of different tribes of Central Asia. The evolution of this empire was a slow and steady process that began when the Turkish and Mongolian tribes sat together for mutual interests. The first renowned of them was Temujin (1165-1227). He was a charming and fascinating leader and was the heir to Toghril Khan, s upreme leader of the Kereits. The ââ¬Å"Kereitsâ⬠tribe was the most prominent and populous tribe among the Mongols. The idea of leadership that Temujin possessed was genetically adopted from his father. Soon after he came into limelight, sections of people emerged that were jealous from Temujin. This jealousy ended into a clash in 1203 from which Temujin was left victorious and he gained control of the entire area of Mongolia. 3 Temujin modified the concept of the people residing in this tribal land, unifying each one into a single umbrella of ââ¬Å"Khamag Mongol Ulusâ⬠, the ultimate and the all powerful Mongol State. He dissolved the tribes and formulated them as they could be used in the military wings. He introduced the use of decimal systems for assembling his militia. Discipline was mandatory for the armed forces and a strong code of conduct was introduced by him. By 1204 he had defeated all who stood against him. By 1206, through his outstanding military and leade rship skills, he was assigned the title of Chingis Khan (Genghis Khan), which means a robust and firm person and a remarkable leader. 4 The rise of the Empire At the beginning of the 12th century AD, the huge grasslands of Mongolia were resided by Turkish and Mongol-Tung sic tribes, Mongolian tribe being the most populous and the creative one. In 1130 the Mongols entered the regions that are now part of the Peopleââ¬â¢s Republic of China, defeating the powerful Jin Empire and indulged their area of control. 5 The history of the Empire started from 1218, when an interesting event shaped the empire and more particularly the life of Genghis Khan, from a nomadic person to the conqueror of the world. A trade convoy starting their travel from the Mongol lands, heading towards the Persian area that now lay in modern Uzbekistan, was stopped unexpectedly by the Persian State Ruler. The ruler suspected that the caravan was one of the Mongolian spies, so he mutilated the men, raped women an d seized all the goods that the group was carrying with them. The doubt was not something out of the world; in fact the Mongols were very intelligent people at gathering information from around the world that benefited them. At the Mongolian side, this was a strict violation of the peace treaty that assured that the trade caravans will be safe from any

Computerisation in a business like Craven Plc Essay Plotters: A device designed to produce charts, drawings, maps and other forms of graphical information on paper. The images can be produced by pens, electro-statically, or ink jets. Storage Methods There are two different forms of storage available these are main storage and backing storage. Main Storage: This consists of the Hard disk drive (HDD) and the floppy disk drive. These are storage facilities present within the computer. Information can be saved onto the HDD ready to be opened at some future date. Application software packages and programmes are also stored on the hard disk. The average PC will have an internal HDD of at least 6Gb. The floppy disk drive is another type of main storage. It uses floppy disks to store information in a similar way to a hard drive. Backing Storage: The performance of a computer system can be improved by the addition of more memory. If there is too little memory then more frequent access to the hard disk is required and this will slow down the overall system performance. Therefore many computer applications require quick, direct access to individual records within a file. For this reason, we need backing storage. Backing storage comes in various forms for example compact disks and floppy disks. Backing storage is a portable and convenient way of saving information. To reduce the risk of data loss it is wise to save information on the computers hard drive and make a copy onto a disk or another type of backing storage for insurance purposes. Types of backing storage: à Floppy disks: The most common storage device available, these provide extremely cheap storage and have a capacity of 1. 5 Mb. à Compact Disk (CD-ROM): These have been used for some years as storage devices for computer software. It only accesses information which is already stored on it and is able to store 650 Mb of information. à Zip Drives: A storage device that has become popular over the last few years because it offers the convenience and portability of a floppy disk, combined with a 100 Mb capacity. CD-R and CD-RW:The difference being that CD-R disks can only have data saved to them once, While CD-RW can be used in the same manner as other storage devices having data saved to them on a re-usable basis. à DVD (digital versatile disc) using the same basic principles as the CD, DVD packs the data more densely and can store 4. 7Gb compared with the CDs 650Mg, can hold 133 minutes of video, with Dolby surround sound. Data pens: A new storage device that plugs into the computers USP drive. These are small and compact and have a capacity of 80Mb. Magnetic Tape: Convenient and cheap medium for backing up hard disks onto computers. Mostly used for mainframe computers for storing information for a long duration. Magnetic tapes will not be suitable for a small company like Craven Plc. Data Protection: Craven Plc must comply with the data protection act in order to hold personal information of customers. The data protection act works in two ways. It gives you certain rights. It also says those who record and use personal information must be open about how the information is used and must follow the eight principles for good handling. The eight principles were put in place to make sure that your information is handled properly. They say that data must be: 1. Fairly and lawfully processed. 2. Processed for limited purposes. 3. Adequate, relevant and not excessive. 4. Accurate. 5. Not kept for longer than is necessary. 6. Processed in line with your rights. 7. Secure, and 8. Not transferred to countries without adequate protection. Micro computers: Micro computers include personal computers and laptop computers, they are usually equipped with hard disk, floppy disk drive, between 1 and 32 megabytes of memory, a keyboard and a VDU unit. Microcomputers will be suitable to fulfil the needs of Craven Plc. Mainframe Computers: These are large systems that can hold vast amounts of data. Mainframe computers occupy a whole floor of a fair sized building. These powerful mainframe computers are present in very large companies storing huge amounts of data on to disk. Mainframe computers cost tens of thousands of pounds, therefore they are not suitable for a small business like Craven Plc. File Server: This is a specially configured microcomputer to control the exchange of files between network users. A file server also has more memory and disk storage than normal microcomputers. These classifications of computers are usually based on physical size, speed, processing capabilities, memory size, disc storage, capacities and cost. Direct and Sequential Access: Direct access devices can go directly to the file or record. For example a CD can go directly to track number 10. Sequential access devices have to run through the file sequentially, for instance, if we want track 10 on a cassette, The cassette moves from the beginning from track 1 to 9 until it comes to track 10. 4) Proposed purchases and prices of equipment 2x Sony Intel 2. 6GHZ DVD CDRW Laptop à 256Mb RAM, 40Gb Hard Drive à DVD/CDRW Drive à 15 inch TPT screen i 899 each = i 1798 4x Packard Bell 6111 Intel Pentium 42. 8GHZ processor and 15 TFT monitor à Intel P4 2. 8 GHz processor 512 Mb RAM à 160 GHb Hard Drive i 1199 each =i 4796 4x PacKard Bell 5050 and Xp2600+ PC and 17 CRT monitor à Athlon Xp 2600 processor à 256Mb RAM. 60 Gb hard Drive i 549 each =i 2196 4x Hewlet Packard DJ 9300 A3 Desktop printer i 279 each =i 1116 3x Hewlet Packard scanner i 99 each =i 396 Network- Windows 2000 professional i 3449 Web Designer Approx 3000to4000 Training costs i 2000 Specialist soft ware Sage Accounts i 2000 Web Train Video Conferencing i 1000 Total cost i 22751 5) Proposed method of change over from manual to the new computerised systems Before the change over can take place an extensive training programme needs to take place. This may take several months to train the current workforce in the correct operating procedures of the new system. To ensure information will not be lost in transition the old manual method needs to be in place for the first 2 months along side the new computerised system. In the unlikely case of system collapse information and data will still be on hand. This change over will inevitably endure a small cost of training and staff development. 6) Procedure to transfer the payroll from the old to the new system Payroll is something Craven Plc cannot afford to get wrong. Therefore manual systems need to be in place for 3-4 months along side the new computerised sage accounts system. This will again ensure against loss of data.

New Developments in Genetic Cloning à à à à à à à à Since genetic cloning is a very wide topic, the focus of my paper lies mainly on the new discoveries which might be beneficial to human beings.à The focus of the first section of the paper is on the various cloning techniques geneticists use nowadays.à They techniques included range from the simplest and suitable for all situations, to complicated and suitable for certain areas. à à à à à à à à The second section of the paper, the longest section, discusses five of the many researches performed over the last five years. à The researches are arranged in descending chronological order, dating from February 1997, to April 1992.à These researches are discussed because they all have one thing in common: they may be beneficial to human beings later on.à For example, the newest entry in my paper, and perhaps the one that shocked the whole world, was the report about the first successful clone mammal from non-embryonic cells.à This will be helpful in the future for patients waiting for organ transplants.à Scientists will be able to clone a fully functional organ, and replace it with the damaged one.à The report on the cloning of the human's morphine receptor is advantageous to us because this helps scientists to develop new analgesics. à à à à à à à à The third section of the paper contains a brief discussion about the advantages and the disadvantages of genetic cloning.à à It speculates how our future will improve due to the technologies we are developing, and also the biggest drawbacks which might come from it. à à à à à à à à The last part of the paper, is the explanation of complicated terms used in this paper.à The terms which will be explained are printed in bold terms throughout the paper.à This section, the glossary, is like the ones which appears in textbooks. à New Developments or Research in Genetic Cloning à à à à à à à à à Genetic cloning is one of the many aspects which has been recently introduced to improve our quality of live.à Researchers are trying to improve our lives everyday applying genetic engineering onto our everyday lives.à Cows can be genetically altered to produce more milk, receptors in our body could be cloned to improve our health.à The techniques and new research reported in this paper is just one tree out of the whole forest of genetic engineering. à Part I:à Techniques of Genetic Cloning à à à à à à à à Geneticists use different cloning methods for different purposes.à The method used to identify human diseases are different than the method used to clone a sheep.à The following are used techniques in genetic cloning. Florida has the 3rd largest population of individuals infected with HIV in the United States, with Miami-Dade County having the largest population in the State of Florida.1 As of January of 2014, there were an estimated 12,803 HIV positive individuals and 14,143 individuals with AIDS living in Miami-Dade County.1,2 Malnutrition is a common health concern in individuals with HIV. Multiple factors foster malnutrition in individuals with HIV including inadequate dietary intake, food insecurity, chronic drug use, and digestive complications caused by a weakened immune system.3 Deficiencies caused by inadequate dietary intake are associated with unfavorable disease outcomes and poor quality of life.4,5 Alterations in metabolism requiring additional nutrients further complicate nutritional status in individuals with immune systems that are already compromised. Drug and alcohol use further complicate these issues and increase the risk of opportunistic infections. A decrease in energy intake is common among individuals with HIV. Due to a weakened immune system, they are prone to infections that can affect the appetite or the ability to consume food. Problems that have been reported to affect intake include a decline in appetite, lethargy, frustration, sores in the mouth, and dysphagia.6 Adverse side effects of medications such as metabolic abnormities, gastrointestinal disturbances, and decreased dietary intake lead to poor adherence and a decline in nutrition status asShow MoreRelatedThe Human Immunodeficiency Virus ( Hiv ) And Acquired Immunodeficiency Disease ( Aids )1366 Words à |à 6 PagesImmunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Disease (AIDS) epidemic has been a public health concern in the United States (US) and globally.
