Angels An angel is a pure spirit created by God. The Old Testament theology included the belief in angels: the name applied to certain spiritual beings or intelligences of heavenly residence, employed by God as the ministers of His will. Is Integrity Is Doing The Right Thing - 2113 Words

Oprah Winfrey once said, â€Å"real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not† (BrainyQuote). It is essential for a volunteer to have integrity because without it, their service work means absolutely nothing. It is as meaningless as a steaming cup of decaffeinated coffee. On the surface it may look promising, but when the bottom of the cup is reached and nothing is gained from the experience, it is futile. Not only is it uneventful for the volunteer but for the person being helped as well. When someone gives their time to others to only benefit themselves or when someone gives their time only to brag on social media, it is not worth it for the volunteer or the group the service is being done to. Integrity is fundamental in our volunteer lives as well as our personal ones. Arthur Chickering, Senior Associate and Director of the Civic Engagement Cluster Project, highlights the importance of integrity in his published article on strengthening our knowledge and relationships in the community. He discusses how humans are value fixated. They sometimes get so caught up in the value of the object or experience, they put a number on it. Humans are selfish. They are absorbed on the price of the entity instead of what it means to them. Chickering emphasizes that we as humans need to be more up front about our values: â€Å"word and word, word and deed, deed and deed† (Chickering 4). Our words need to mean what we say they mean.
